Porcelain Veneers Placement Process
The placement process for traditional porcelain veneers requires two office visits; the dentist begins each visit by administering a dental anesthetic, which completely numbs the mouth. In the first visit, the dentist gently shaves away a small portion of the natural tooth structure to accommodate the veneers. Then, a mold is made of the teeth and mouth, which is sent to a dental laboratory. There, specially trained lab technicians use the molds to custom-craft the veneers, tailoring the veneers to compliment the patient’s unique appearance characteristics. Finally, the dentist bonds attractive temporary veneers to the teeth, which the patient wears until the permanent veneers are ready (usually about one week).
In the second visit, the dentist begins by gently removing the temporary veneers and bonds the permanent veneers to the teeth, assuring their fit with the surrounding teeth and bite. Finally, your dentist polishes the veneers to a shine. Patients leave our office with their smile completely transformed.
In addition to traditional porcelain veneers, Dr. Eugene Stanislaus also provides LUMINEERS® veneers, minimal-prep veneers that do not require reduction of the natural tooth structure. Learn about the placement process for LUMINEERS® veneers.
